Extra Sacramentum, nulla Iurisdictio. Outside the Oath, no jurisdiction.
This page sets out the organisational, legal, and narrative footing on which the Terran Republic stands. It is read in full before enlistment.
§1. On the Nature of This Organisation
The Terran Republic is a voluntary, non-commercial gaming community.
We are players who enjoy multi-faction military science fiction, organised around a shared aesthetic and a coherent fictional setting of our own design. Membership is voluntary. Participation is free. The organisation does not collect, exchange, sell, or otherwise monetise any aspect of its activity.
The Republic operates across multiple game titles. While Star Citizen has been a focal point of activity, the Republic is not a single-game organisation: members may engage in any title where the community’s interest carries us, present and future. The organisational structure, doctrine, and ranks described on this site are platform-agnostic — they apply to whichever game the Republic stands deployed in at any given time.
The Republic conducts its activity in English and European Portuguese. Its members are human beings of every background, nationality, belief, orientation, and identity, united only by participation in a shared fiction.
§2. On Non-Affiliation
The Terran Republic is not affiliated with any game publisher, developer, or platform holder.
Without limitation:
- The Republic is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or in any way connected to Cloud Imperium Games Corp. (CIG), Roberts Space Industries (RSI), or any of their subsidiaries, partners, or licensees. Star Citizen, Squadron 42, Spectrum, and all related trademarks are the property of their respective owners.
- The Republic is not affiliated with any other game publisher, developer, or platform on which its members may operate, present or future. Where the Republic engages with a particular title, it does so as one community of players among many, governed entirely by the rules of that platform and its publisher.
- No statement made on this site, in the Republic’s communications, or by any member acting in their organisational capacity should be construed as an official position, endorsement, or representation of any game publisher.
The Republic exists alongside the games its members play, never as part of them.
§3. On Intellectual Property
Trademarks, names, logos, and intellectual property of third parties remain the property of their respective owners.
- Game names, screenshots, lore terms, fictional species, and other elements drawn from the games on which the Republic operates are the property of their respective publishers, and are referenced under fair-use and community-content conventions as permitted by the host platforms.
- The doctrine, identity, ranks, ceremony, visual identity (including the Sigillum Vigiliae and the four-tier motto system), and all original textual and graphic content of the Terran Republic are original works authored within the community.
- The Republic does not seek to replicate, replace, or compete with any third-party intellectual property. Aesthetic resonance with established science-fiction archetypes is synthesis, not appropriation.
If any rights-holder believes specific content on this site falls outside permitted use, the community will engage in good faith and adjust accordingly.
§4. Mandatory Preamble
This site, and the Terran Republic it represents, is a work of fiction, produced for a roleplaying gaming organisation operating inside a shared narrative universe of grimdark military science fiction.
All enemies named (alien species categories: predator civilisations, patient civilisations, trader civilisations, the unknowns), all acts described (including but not limited to extermination, purge, cleanse, neutralisation, in-flagrante execution), and all ideological positions asserted are directed at fictional non-human species and fictional in-universe heresies within a fictional setting.
They do not advocate, endorse, justify, or mirror any real-world political position, ethnic hostility, religious hostility, or violence against any real-world person or group.
The harshness of the in-universe doctrine is a deliberate aesthetic choice of the fiction. It does not authorise, and the Republic does not extend it to, any conduct outside the fiction.
If the reader is not comfortable with grimdark military fiction, the recommended action is to stop reading here. This site exists for those who are.
§5. On Roleplay and Real-World Separation
The Republic’s doctrine — the Three Pillars of Vigilance, the Oath of Vigil, the Holy Office, the Ius Gladii Doctrinae — operates exclusively within the fiction.
- The Oath of Vigil binds the Citizen’s character within the shared fiction; it does not bind the player outside the game.
- In-flagrante execution under the Ius Gladii Doctrinae is roleplay performed in narrative scenes, in-game combat, or administrative removal from the organisation’s roster — all within platform community standards.
- The Purge is administrative — expulsion from rank, revocation of access, posting in the internal bulletin. It is community moderation, executed within platform rules.
- No member of the Republic is asked, encouraged, or expected to extend the fiction’s harshness to any conduct outside the fiction.
Any member who confuses the fiction with the real world will be removed from the Republic.
§6. On Inspirations
The aesthetic of the Terran Republic is a synthesis of archetypes drawn from multiple traditions of human-supremacist militarised faction science fiction. It is grimdark by vocation. The doctrine is inflexible by aesthetic and narrative choice. Those seeking lighter fiction will find it elsewhere.
The Republic does not name or claim affiliation with any single inspiration. Where readers recognise echoes — in vocabulary, in tone, in ritual — they recognise convergence with shared archetypes, not borrowing of intellectual property.
§7. On the Reader
If you have read this disclaimer in full, the Republic considers you informed.
If you choose to continue reading this site, to enlist, or to engage with the fiction — you do so on the basis of having understood that:
- the organisation is independent of every publisher whose games it operates within;
- the doctrine is fiction, and applies only within the shared narrative space;
- the Republic stands entirely within the rules of fair, voluntary, cooperative play.
