Threats & Classification
§4.1 — Doctrinal Position
The alien is not humanity's neighbour. The alien is not humanity's partner. The alien is the permanent, structural, evolutionary competitor for resources, space, survival, and political agency.
This is not supernatural. It is arithmetical. Two intelligent species in the same volume of space, competing for finite territory and finite matter, do not produce peace. They produce the species that was prepared.
- Extermination-class species do not negotiate. They advance, consume, return.
- Infiltration-class species do not negotiate in good faith. The Republic's intelligence documents the gradual insertion of alien influence into human political and financial structures.
- Subversion-class species do not transact fairly. Their commercial models move value away from human economic sovereignty at a constant rate.
- Unknown-class species: absence of data is not absence of threat.
The Republic does not hate the alien through ignorance. It distrusts the alien through knowledge. And where the alien advances, the Republic answers.
§4.2 — Tolerance Level: Zero. Absolute.
There is no acceptable alien presence within Republic territory, operations, membership, command structure, intelligence network, or leadership. No exceptions on any basis:
- "This one is different." — It is not.
- "We need their resources." — We will build our own.
- "They have been useful." — So has every trap ever sprung.
- "All sentient beings deserve respect." — Respect is earned by species capable of returning it.
An alien encountered in Republic space is, at minimum, an unknown risk. At maximum, an enemy combatant. Never a citizen. Never a member. Never an ally. Never a guest.
§4.3 — Threat Classification System
- Class I — Active Existential Combat Threat. Species in systematic territorial aggression; no diplomatic channel; advance-and-return pattern. Posture: Extermination Protocol. Engage and reduce. No negotiation. No prisoners unless intelligence value is confirmed by High Command.
- Class II — Strategic Infiltration Threat. Species with documented capacity and intent to compromise human political, governmental, or financial structures. Posture: Surveillance, containment, interdiction. No diplomatic engagement without High Command sanction.
- Class III — Economic Subversion Threat. Species whose commercial model systematically degrades human economic sovereignty. Posture: Restriction and counter-trade. Commercial contact monitored, logged, and throttled.
- Class IV — Unknown / Insufficient Data. Species on which intelligence is insufficient. Posture: Hostile by default. No unsupervised contact.
- Class V — Unclassified / Other. Any alien entity not matching Classes I–IV. Posture: Hostile by default. Contact restricted to High Command-approved operations.
§5.1 — Definition
A Heretic is a human who has chosen against humanity. Not a human who disagrees with a policy. Not a human who prefers a different operational tempo. Not a human who argues doctrine inside a command meeting. A Heretic is a human whose political, ideological, or operational alignment places alien or anti-Republic interests above the survival of the human species.
Heresy is not a question of opinion. It is a question of direction. The direction is wrong, or it is not.
§5.2 — Categories of Heresy
- Political Heresy — advocacy for the cession of human sovereignty to alien entities, to interstellar bodies with non-human majorities, or to corporate structures whose interests outrank human civilisation.
- Doctrinal Heresy — rejection of the Republic's foundational axiom in favour of universal sentient rights, alien-inclusive governance, or post-human ideologies that treat the species as one element among equals. This is the philosophical foundation of betrayal. It sounds reasonable. It leads to extinction.
- Operational Heresy — the active form. Sharing Republic intelligence with hostile factions. Sabotaging Republic operations. Unauthorised contact with alien powers. Protecting alien assets against Republic interests. For sworn members, this is the category that triggers in-flagrante execution under the Ius Gladii Universalis.
- Cultural Heresy — the slow poison. Glorification of alien culture in ways that seek to displace human identity. Systematic promotion of the view that humanity is the problem and alien perspectives are the solution.
§5.3 — Tolerance Level: Zero — and Three Channels of Response
Channel A — Administrative (Remotio Administrativa). Removal of the confirmed heretic from Republic ranks and records: roles revoked, internal channel access stripped, name posted on the internal Purge Bulletin, character struck from the Registrum Vigiliae. Baseline response for all confirmed Operational Heresy. Automatic, applied by the Magister Vigiliae within 24 hours.
Channel B — Combat (Exsecutio in Acie). In-game action in the Republic's operational setting. Where a qualified Commissar or Inquisitor holding Ius Gladii Universalis encounters the heretic's character in-game, the character may be eliminated through normal game mechanics — combat, interdiction, capture, staged execution scene — in zones where PvP is permitted by the platform's rules.
Channel C — Narrative (Exsecutio in Scaena). The written or voiced roleplay scene — Discord channel scene, forum post, voice-channel ritual — in which the execution of a heretic character is enacted in text, dialogue, or simulated action.
§5.4 — The Ius Gladii Universalis — Executory Authority
The Ius Gladii Universalis — the "Right of the Universal Sword" — is the faculty, vested in a qualified Commissar or Inquisitor of the Sanctum Officium Vigiliae, to summarily execute the heretic on the spot in the face of flagrant and unambiguous heresy, without prior Doctrinal Flag, without panel review, and without appeal.
The jurisdiction of the sword extends to all persons in Republic doctrinal space — sworn or unsworn. The Oath of Vigil is the foundational instrument for sworn members; for unsworn persons, authority derives from their presence in Republic territory, operations, or channels (Iurisdictio Territorialis).
It may be exercised only when all four of the following criteria are met simultaneously:
- Unambiguous flagrancy. Heretical conduct manifests in real time, in the presence of the officer and at least one credible third party.
- Eligible category of heresy. For sworn members: Operational Heresy exclusively. For unsworn persons: any manifest and declared heresy in Republic doctrinal space.
- Harm present or imminent. The conduct prejudices or threatens to prejudice the Republic, the operation, or the doctrinal integrity of the space in which it occurs.
- Qualified officer, no conflict. The officer holds Ius Gladii on record and has no declared personal conflict with the target.
§5.4.1 — Ritual Invocation (canonical order)
Nomen haeresis dictum est. Tres Pilae invocati. Sacramentum Vigiliae confirmatum — vel absentia eius notata. Gladius Doctrinae extractus.
Pro Humanitate.
For unsworn targets, the officer declares "absentia eius notata" — the absence of the Oath is noted, and the execution proceeds under Iurisdictio Territorialis. The order is structural. Jurisdiction is confirmed before the sword is drawn. Inverting the order is a doctrinal error.
§5.4.2 — Actum Gladii Closing Formula
Actum est. Signatum est. Remissum ad Magistrum.
It is done. It is signed. It is remitted to the Master.
§5.5 — Ordinary Response Pathway (without Ius Gladii)
Where flagrancy, category eligibility, or the harm criterion are not present, the response to heresy follows the ordinary pathway — administrative, documented, escalated:
- Identification — the heretical position is named in writing in the command channel.
- Doctrinal Flag opened — evidence preserved.
- Confrontation — the member is confronted in the appropriate command channel; doctrine is reasserted.
- Panel Review — three-member panel reviews the Flag. Maximum 14 days.
- Correction, Suspension, or Purge (Channel A) — by gravity and intent.
- Removal from the Registrum Vigiliae — on purge, the character's Sacramentum Vigiliae entry is struck.
- Appeal — within 7 days to the Magister Vigiliae; where the case touches the Sanctum Officium itself, appeal rises to the Consul Primus.
§5.6 — Unsworn Persons — Iurisdictio Territorialis
The sword of doctrine does not check membership cards. It checks conduct.
Unsworn persons who commit flagrant heresy in Republic doctrinal space are subject to Ius Gladii Universalis via Iurisdictio Territorialis. The four criteria of §5.4 apply. For unsworn persons, the category criterion is satisfied by any manifest heresy.
Procedure: ritual invocation with "absentia eius notata" in place of Sacramentum Vigiliae; execution by the available channels (B and/or C) where circumstances permit; Channel A (expulsion and inscription on Non Admittendi) always applies; simplified Actum Gladii filed within 48 hours.
There is no Tribunal for the unsworn heretic. There is no appeal. The Non Admittendi inscription is permanent.
Extra Sacramentum, nulla Misericordia. — "Outside the Oath, no Mercy."
§6.1 — Definition
A Mutant is any human whose biological integrity has been compromised in ways that place them outside the standard parameters of human physiology — through deliberate genetic modification with alien-origin material, alien biological contamination, or technological integration that replaces or supersedes natural human function with non-human architecture.
The Republic's concern is not aesthetic. It is strategic. What was modified was modified with purpose — and those purposes have not always been the Republic's.
§6.2 — The Doctrine of Human Integrity
The Republic recognises a restricted category of Sanctioned Augmentation:
- Reviewed and approved by the Medical Authority of High Command.
- Entirely human-origin in design and material.
- Oriented to operational capacity (accelerated healing, enhanced cognition within human parameters, prosthetic replacement for combat loss, standard medical treatment).
- Registered and traceable.
Anything outside Sanctioned Augmentation is Mutation in the doctrinal sense:
- Incorporation of alien biological material.
- Replacement of human cognitive architecture by non-human systems.
- Modifications that alter loyalty, empathy with human peers, or doctrinal stability.
- Unverifiable enhancements from non-Republic sources.
§6.3 — Tolerance Level: Conditional Zero
Unlike the Xeno (always excluded) and the Heretic (always confronted), the Mutant is assessed case by case — but with extreme rigour and without the benefit of the doubt.
Standard posture: exclusion and surveillance pending determination. Those confirmed to carry alien biological contamination or alien-origin cognitive systems are permanently removed from Republic structures, access revoked, rank stripped.
