I §1 Five Tiers of Engagement

The Republic supports five tiers of roleplay engagement, from no-RP/no-rank participation (Peregrinus) to full canonical authorship (Civis Auctor). The tiers are descriptive, not prescriptive: they exist so that nobody feels mis-fitted, and so that recruitment officers can be honest about who the Republic is built to hold.

  • Tier 0 — Peregrinus Vigiliae (The Unsworn): no oath, no RP required, no rank. Full operational access; community-rules enforcement only.
  • Tier I — Civis Tacitus (The Silent Citizen): sworn, ranked, RP load minimal — the Oath itself.
  • Tier II — Civis Operativus (The Operational Citizen): sworn, ranked, IC during operations only.
  • Tier III — Civis Personatus (The Embodied Citizen): sworn, ranked, persona + ritual life.
  • Tier IV — Civis Auctor (The Author Citizen): sworn, ranked, contributes to the canon (Narratio).

The hard boundary is between Tier 0 and Tier I — crossing it requires the Sacramentum Vigiliae. Transitions between Tiers I, II, III, and IV are soft: a member moves up or down the spectrum freely, without notification, by changing what they choose to do.

The Republic publishes the engagement-tiers framework as a public-facing page on the site, with worked examples for each tier, a self-assessment for prospects, and an explicit non-pressure rule for unsworn members.
